Aldo Giannotti (Genova, Italy, 1977) is a visual artist living and working in Vienna since 2000. His educational path traversed through the Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara, Italy, Wimbledon University of Arts in London, England, and the Fine Arts Academy in Munich, Germany.
Central to Giannotti’s artistic exploration is the medium of drawing, through which he articulates complex socio-architectural, socio-political, and socio-cultural narratives. With a keen eye for detail and a distinctive minimalist style, Giannotti’s work challenges conventional perspectives and invites viewers to engage in a dialogue about the structures that shape our everyday lives. His pieces, often infused with humor and irony, have been exhibited in institutions across Europe, including the Lentos Museum, Linz; Kunsthaus Graz; Kunstraum Niederösterreich; Künstlerhaus Dortmund; Museum der Moderne, Salzburg; Austrian Cultural Forum London; Donaufestival, Krems; Museum Sztuki in Łódź, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb, among others. His solo exhibition Safe and Sound (MAMbo, Bologna, 2021) continued his exploration of institutional and architectural structures. In June 2024, he presented a performative exhibition project for the Bank Austria Kunstforum in Vienna. This hybrid project created a dynamic and immersive experience through the collaboration of artists, musicians, performers, and museum staff, challenging conventional exhibition formats.
