Anne Imhof (Giessen, 1978) is a German performance and media artist, who lives and works in Berlin and Los Angeles. She completed her studies at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in 2012. For the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017, she presented her work Faust in the German Pavilion for which she was awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation. This was followed by solo exhibitions at Tate Modern in London in 2019, Palais de Tokyo in Paris in 2021, at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 2022, and most recently a presentation of her work at Kunsthaus Bregenz in 2024, titled Wish You Were Gay. Her work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including at Aichi Triennale, Aichi Prefecture (2022), Kunstmuseum Winterthur (2022), Tai Kwun, Hong Kong (2019), La Biennale de Montréal (2016), Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2015), Centre Pompidou, Paris (2015), and Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main (2014).
