Edi Dubien (Issy les Moulineaux, 1963), lives and works in Paris.
Edi Dubien’s drawings tell a story. The story of a time not really lived, a time tinged with nostalgia. They tell of the artist’s relationship with nature, flora and fauna. The artist’s story allows us to grasp the links between his works and his biography. Edi Dubien’s work revolves around fiction and reality, the search for and construction of the self. Because to be what you are, and not what society would like you to be, is sometimes a struggle and a difficult path against adversity. However, these drawings don’t need to be spelled out to make their point and move our senses. They speak to us in an immediacy that requires no elucidation, because they echo, more or less.
