The Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS), founded in 1919, is one of the oldest professional artists unions in the region. Today, with over a thousand active members, it is also one of the most numerous. Since its early, foundational days, the Association’s mission remained unchanged: to protect the social, economic and professional status of visual artists and promote artistic creation in society. Respecting democratic principles, inclusivity and diversity, the association is run by members through a complex governing system and the Assembly of the Association as the superior organ. It self-organises diverse and intensive exhibitions and discursive programmes in its two venues: Art Pavilion “Cvijeta Zuzorić”, and ULUS Gallery. As a representative association in the field of fine arts, it carries out tasks entrusted by the The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia related to the granting of status to independent artists.
The Art Pavilion “Cvijeta Zuzorić”, as the headquarters of ULUS and its main programme venue, houses a valuable historical archive of the organisation’s work and artistic production, as well as remarkable collections of art pieces – Fond mladih (The Youth Fund), a library and coworking space.
