Matthieu Lelièvre

Graduated from a MA in Museum Studies at the Ecole du Louvre and a MA in art conservation at the French Institut National du Patrimoine, Matthieu Lelièvre has previously been simultaneously curator and head of collections for museums, galleries and private foundations in Berlin and Paris where he had been responsible for the Drawing Cabinet of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Besides his independent curatorial practice focusing on emerging artists for which his expertise led him to join several boards and juries, he took care for several years of the young artists and graphic department as an associate curator at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac. From 2016 to 2018 he joined a private foundation as its Artistic Director in order to build the prefiguration of its artistic and artist residency program while initiating a collaboration with the Fine Arts museum of Orléans developing several exhibitions for emerging artists in dialogue with the museum’s collection and the city’s history. In 2019, he joined the team of the Palais de Tokyo and co-curate the 15th Lyon Biennale Where Waters comes together with other waters. Since 2018, Matthieu Lelièvre started to collaborate with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon as its Artistic Advisor in order to curate a program dedicated to international emerging artists and its international relations before becoming the Head of the Collection department.
