The Politics of Feelings/Economies of Love, 2014
The k.r.u.ž.o.k. READING group (founded in Zagreb in 2011 ) consists of three female cultural workers and an artist duo that met regularly in an attempt to create a space for artistic, cultural and political issues that were not addressed by the usual public framework. During 2011 and 2012 its sessions were closed but, by the end of its second year, k.r.u.ž.o.k. initiated its Politics of Feelings /Economy of Love project as a public reading club also with lectures, performances and discussions. This resulted, in 2014, in the eponymous publication made available here.
Within the context of national and/or market fundamentalism, its authors’ opened up chapters on the inter-connectedness between concepts of nationalism, sexuality, politics and collective emotion as well as of love as a reason for committed yet unpaid work. This meant that the material researched, both visual and textual, was not considered as any form of conclusion but, rather, as a platform for debate that invited readers and participants to explore further these subjects.
For its Politics of Feelings /Economy of Love presentation in the October Salon, k.r.u.ž.o.k. has set up a Readers’ Corner where visitors may read, talk, rest or just enjoy some free leisure time.
